Surf Camp Spain - Fuerteventura

Surf Camp Spain - Fuerteventura

Surf lessons

Surf lessons take place everyday of the week, also on the weekend. The surf groups consist of maximum eight students and the surf instructor. The whole lessons take 4 to 5 hours depending on the spot distance. This time includes the transport to the surf spot, theoretical explanation, warm-up, practice on land and active surfing in the water.

All equipment - board, leash, wetsuits - is provided by us and included in the booking price. Furthermore, you can use the material for free if you have surf lessons on the same day or everyday if you booked surf lessons during all your stay. That would mean at least 5 days of lessons for one week.

Arrival is any day of the week. Below is an example of a typical week with arrival on a Saturday, which is the day most people arrive.

Day of arrival. You will be shown your room and afterwards, one of our team members will explain where everything is in town. Now you are ready to explore the beaches or take a walk into town. You could also go skating or use a pushbike to explore the surroundings. If you plan to cook for yourself, you can do some shopping at the local supermarket. You can always find some people that are up for a drink or two in town, if you are not too tired from your trip. (For those who have booked extra lessons on Saturday, there are surf lessons on this day, too.)

This is a totally relaxing day where you can chill by the pool, go into town, relax at the beach or try one of the many excursions that are offered all over town. The catamarán trip to the small island of Lobos is beautiful, or you can visit the volcanoes on the neighbour island of Lanzarote. If you have a driver’s licence, we recommend hiring a car for a day trip to explore the south of the island. The amazing beach of Coffete is a must-see.

At 17:30, the camp manager will have an introduction round for everyone who has arrived during the weekend. You will also be grouped with others according to the surfing level that you informed us of at the time of your booking.

If you are interested in yoga, then you can also sign up for some classes taught by a yoga teacher who comes to the camp.

This is usually the first day of lessons for those who have recently arrived. Or, it’s the second week for the other surfers that have been staying at the camp. You will be split up into groups, according to your surf skills. Depending on the waves and your level of surfing, we will take you either to a beach break or a reef break. We normally go surfing in the mornings between 08:00-11:00, but departure times may change during the week according to the tides.

Once we are at our surf spot, the surf instructors will give you an introduction on safety and give you the necessary theory for the lessons. You will be in the water for approximately 3 hours. Once the lessons are over, we take you back to your accommodation. It typically takes around 5 hours each day to load the vans and drive to the different spots, and the lessons, of course. Once you are back at the camp, most people just want to relax, but you are welcome to go to the beach, head into town or entertain yourself with some of the games we have in our camp.

Another day of lessons in the morning. You have probably noticed that your arms are really tired from the day before, but there is nothing better than some more surfing to strengthen those arms. On Monday, we would have surfed on a beach break to check out your level of surfing, even for the intermediate surfers. Today, participants that already know how to stand on the board might be able to go and surf a reef break if conditions allow it. Beginners will still stay on beach breaks.

After lessons you will be taken back to the Surf House. Here you can cook something with your new friends or maybe just go out for lunch at one of the nice restaurants nearby. If you want to go out in town, you are always welcome to, but we recommend keeping it around maximum 3 nights as you need your strength to surf.

It’s another day of surfing. Your body starts adapting to the sport and you will notice some big improvements with your skills. If you have been surfing the same spot the past two days, then we might change surf spots today (conditions permitting), so you see other beaches. The afternoon is free for you to do whatever you like. In the evening, you are welcome to join us for a barbeque prepared by our team (paid locally). After the barbeque, the party mood kicks in and it’s usually a great night.

Guess what? It’s surf time again! According to your evaluation from the previous days, the instructors might rearrange some groups if necessary. If the beginner group has greatly improved, then we might also go to the reef break for a surf if the conditions are ideal. After the previous night's party, most people just watch a movie in the evening, go skating, hang out by the pool or do some shopping.

It’s your last day of surfing this week and we know that. That’s why we try to have you all on the reef to try and surf some green waves. In the evening, we usually all go out for dinner together and do some partying (paid locally).

Unless you have booked extra nights or an extra week, then today is departure day and you should be out of your room by 11:00. You can still hang out at the camp until the evening, and we will look after your things while you go surfing or on an excursion.

If you have booked a 2-week package, then it's "Eat, Sleep, Repeat" of Week 1 with more surfing!
