Itinerary

Maldives Beach Break - 4 Days

Day 1

Arrive Male International Airport where you will be greeted by one of our team who will assist you with your public speedboat transfer to the local island of Dhiffushi in North Male Atoll. The speedboat operates every day and takes 50 minutes to journey across the Indian Ocean to Dhiffushi. View the beauty of the many Maldives islands that pass you by, keeping your eyes open for dolphins. Sit alongside the fruit and vegetables, mattresses and electrical items that have been purchased that day and chat with the locals.

Upon arrival at your guesthouse experience traditional ‘hedikaa’ - Maldivian savory and sweet short eats served with black tea. You will have time to settle in before dinner which will be served at your guesthouse.

Day 2

Following breakfast head out by speedboat to enjoy a guided group snorkeling trip to a nearby reef to discover the underwater world of the Maldives. Keep your eyes open for turtles which are frequently encountered at this reef as well as reef sharks and rays, you never know what you may discover.

The afternoon is yours to relax on the white sand beach or for those feeling a little more energetic take advantage of the many water sport options available including diving. This evening while you listen to the sound of the waves enjoy dinner on the beach under the stars. (Subject to weather conditions).

Day 3

Today is free for you to make the most of the beautiful beaches or explore the local side of Dhiffushi life. As the afternoon draws to a close head out to sea and enjoy a perfect moment when the sinking sun kisses the horizon, lighting the waves aflame in brilliant colours of gold and orange. Added to this is the possibility to spot dolphins, the perfect way to bring your Maldives trip to a memorable end.

Day 4

Departure by speedboat to Male International Airport or your onward destination.

Important Note on Local Islands

Local islands are very different from the picture-perfect resort images you may have seen. These are living and working island communities, where daily life is shaped by Islam, family, and in today’s world, tourism. You’ll hear the call to prayer five times a day. On islands closer to Male, you will notice ongoing construction and development for both island infrastructure and new guesthouses or hotels. Every island has its own unique character and charm, offering something different in terms of culture, community, and natural environment.

Additional info

The Maldives is a Muslim country and therefore care needs to be taken with regard to the dress code on the local islands. While it is acceptable for men to wear t-shirts and shorts or swim shorts, women should maintain a more conservative approach by wearing t-shirts, loose shorts or sarongs. The islands we visit are more tolerant of guests wearing traditional beachwear, however, women should avoid wearing bikinis and swimsuits on more public beaches. During the local island tours, where we may have access to mosques and family homes, shoulders and thighs should be covered out of respect for local customs.
