Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1 - Arrival in San Salvador
You will be picked up at the bus terminal upon arrival and transferred to your accommodation in downtown San Salvador. Enjoy the rest of the day to get settled in and enjoy the city. Go out on your own to explore the town.
Day 2 - San Salvador City Tour & El Boquerón National Park (B)
Have breakfast at your hotel and then get picked up at 9:00 am by your bilingual local guide for a full-day San Salvador City Tour. Visit the main sites in San Salvador’s historical city center like the Holy Savior Metropolitan Cathedral, El Rosario Church, the National Theatre, Gerardo Barrios Park and the former governmental headquarters at the Palacio Nacional. At approximately 11:00 am you will be transferred to the San Salvador Volcano crater where you will visit the Boqueron National Park. The name ‘Boqueron’ means wide mouth appropriate for the 450 metre deep and 5 kilometre wide dormant crater whose last eruption was in 1917. Admire stunning vistas from scenic overlook points on the hike and take as many photos as you can. Keep an eye out for local flora and fauna during your hike like the Torogoz, El Salvador’s national bird, foxes, butterflies, toucans, tepescuintles, orchids and other exotic tropical flower species. Bring some extra cash along with you for a well-deserved meal at a local restaurant before returning to El Salvador.
