Start your adventure with an airport or bus station pick-up in Salta on Day 1. Embark on a ‘Safari to the Clouds’, to admire the surreal expanses of the Puna all around you on Day 2. Travel from beautiful desert landscapes to the glaring white expanse of the Salt Flats and marvel at the multi-coloured rock formations in Purmamarca. On your way, you can see ruins, scattered houses, small villages and amazing landscapes. Travel through the colourful Humahuaca Gorge on Day 3, and visit small and diverse desert villages to get a taste of the local culture, before returning to the peaceful colonial city of Salta for a free day on Day 4. Walk around this beautiful colonial town and visit its interesting museums, including the famous MAAM. Airport or bus station drop-off on Day 5.
Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Airport or Bus Station pickup in Salta
You will be picked up at the airport or at the bus station in Salta and taken to your accommodation for the night.
Day 2: Tour to the Clouds with Quebrada de Humahuaca 2D/1N (B)
Safari to the Clouds/Purmamarca Visit
Breakfast. We will pick you up from your hostel or hotel in Salta around 7:00 am. You will travel on the same route as the famous Train to the Clouds, zigzagging on lonely roads between the blue sky and the Puna. On your way, you can see ruins, scattered houses, small villages and amazing landscapes. First we will make our way to the small town of Campo Quijano and later, to the impressive Quebrada del Toro. Soon you will leave all signs of vegetation as you enter the realms of the solitary Puna. In Santa Rosa de Tastil, a pre-Inca city of the XIII century, you will do a short archeological hiking.
Later, you will reach San Antonio de los Cobres, a small miner´s town rich in tradition and the Train to the Clouds final destination. Further ahead, a desert plateau will take you to the surreal landscape of the salt flats, where you stop again to walk around and enjoy the contrasts. In the afternoon, you will pass through the overwhelming Lipan mountains and arrive at the Seven-color Hill in Purmamarca, a landmark on its own. You will overnight in this village suspended in time.
Day 3: Tour to the Clouds with Quebrada de Humahuaca 2D/1N (B)
Humahuaca Gorge Visit: Towns and relics of ancient cultures, superb mountains and the feeling of being in timeless places are the exquisite elements of this trip through the Humahuaca Gorge.
Breakfast. You will leave Purmamarca between 10:00 - 11:00 am and head north to the province of Jujuy. The small towns of Maimará, Tilcara, Uquía and Humahuaca will open their ancient charm to your captivated eyes. In Tilcara, you visit the Pucará (fortress) and the Archeological Museum, while in Uquía you stop to admire the local church. But it’s in Humahuaca where you enjoy in the extremely peaceful atmosphere, the typical colonial architecture and the charming people. Let the history behind the walls and stones of these places take you on a ride to the Argentinean past! Arrival to Salta at 7:00 - 8:00 pm.
Day 4: Free day in Salta (B)
Enjoy a free day in Salta. You can walk around this beautiful colonial town and visit its interesting museums, including the well-known MAAM.
Day 5: Airport or Bus Station drop-off in Salta (B)
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Salta and dropped off at the airport or at the bus station.

You are responsible for paying for this fee online and printing your receipt, which you must present to the Customs Authority upon entering the country. There are no exemptions to this new fee and it must be paid regardless if you are staying for a few hours, making a flight connection or staying for a longer period of time. Please note that for some nationalities, the option to pay for multiple entrances does not exist. You are responsible for having these documents in order prior to arrival.
