El Salvador Surf Camp El Sunzal

El Salvador Surf Camp El Sunzal

About your location

Our surf camp is stationed in El Sunzal, right by the best breaks. There are two main surf spots we love to surf at: El Sunzal and La Bocana. Grab your board and let’s jump into the waves at our favourite spots.

El Sunzal
This is our main beach that’s just outside the camp. This spot has an amazing beach break for beginner surfers where you can enter and exit the water easily without any danger. El Sunzal is great for more experienced surfers too, the different sections offer different experiences, so it’s the perfect spot for all three levels. There can be a lot of people in the water, but it's a cool spot with great vibes in the water.

La Bocana
This spot is only for level 3 surfers since the waves are more powerful here. Experienced surfers will have a great time at La Bocana since it has consistent sweets, both left-and right-hand breaks and fun 300-meter rides.

The camp week starts and ends on Mondays. Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez SAL is the nearest Airport and it is a 45 minute drive from the camp (transfer is included).

Check in at our camp is at 14:00 and check out at 09:00. If your schedule does not fit these hours, you are welcome to leave your bags in our reception area and hang out at our restaurant or the beach.

Your package includes 5 X 1-on-1 surf lessons and 1 surf theory lesson per week. You will be introduced to your private instructor at the beginning of the week. If you want to make the most out of your surf trip, then extra surf lessons will always be available for you to book on-site. Another way to improve your surf skills or your Instagram feed is to see yourself surfing. This is why we offer a Video-foto-drone package on top.

Your package includes 3 yoga classes per week. You’ll be doing them on our outside yoga deck, overlooking trees and the ocean.

General Information about the destination

El Salvador is mostly operating with US dollars. Be aware that US$50 and US$100 notes are generally not accepted in many smaller restaurants, bars, and shops, so we advise you to bring smaller notes with you. Regular ATMs are widely available particularly in San Salvador and La Libertad as well as in El Tunco. Remember to inform your bank of your travel plans before your travel to avoid your card being blocked.

There are no necessary vaccinations for travelers going to El Salvador. However, feel free to contact your local medical provider to get more information regarding travels to Central American countries.

There is no need to apply for a visa before arrival. You will get it once you enter the country. Make sure to have the address of the camp on hand, because they will ask you for it at immigration.

El Salvador is a lovely place to visit throughout the year. The country has a tropical climate with warm weather and ample sunshine on most days. The year is divided into wet and dry seasons. The rainy season goes from April to October. For these months we recommend you to bring a raincoat. No need for any warm clothing.

Depending on the month the water temperature goes from 27-31°C. This means no need for a wetsuit! However, we strongly recommend you bring a rash guard and sunscreen to protect yourself from the strong sun.

El Sunzal is at our doorstep. It is the most consistent wave you will ever see and it provides us with waves all day, all year around. This wave is where our surf classes will be located most of the time, but also in our nearby spots: La Bocana, Punta Roca, El Zonte and K59 - all less than 10 km away.

What should I bring?
- Passport
- Hygiene articles
- Swimwear
- Sunblock/Zinc
- Sunscreen. Make sure it has high SPF and is waterproof, the sun is strong! We recommend using Oxybenzone-free products and help conserve our favorite playground - the ocean.
- Surf equipment
- Clothes for running or biking etc.
- Towel for beach
- Mosquito repellent
- Refillable water bottle
- Charging adapter
- Good vibes!
