Route: Buenos Aires - Mendoza - Santiago de Chile (or v.v.)
Travel from Argentina’s capital, passing by the important wine region of Mendoza, onto Chile’s capital (or v.v.) viewing remarkable landscapes and discovering the local cultures along the way. You can choose to begin in Buenos Aires where you will go on a city tour to see historic monuments and wander through uniquely different neighborhoods. Then you will enjoy an impressive Tango show and dinner at La Ventana before continuing on to Mendoza the next day. There, learn about winemaking during a Half Day Winery Tour in which you will visit two wineries that use different production techniques. The following day, go on a thrilling rafting adventure down the Mendoza River and take in the spectacular surrounding views of snowy peaks, colorful rocks and desert-like terrains. Transfer to Santiago by bus, enjoying one of the most beautiful sceneries in western Argentina, with the majestic Aconcagua peak at almost 7,000m. Finish with a bike tour through Santiago to witness the popular culture, urban art, and everyday life.
Day by day itinerary:
DAY 1: Arrival at Buenos Aires
Arrival to Buenos Aires. Regular transfer from Ezeiza International Airport with the Hostel Shuttle. Timetable from Ezeiza to Buenos Aires: 9:15 am, 12:00 pm, 2:45 pm, 8:10 pm. Check in at the selected accommodation.
DAY 2: Buenos Aires - City tour (B)
Breakfast. 9:00 am City Tour: Discover the beauty and wonders of Buenos Aires, admire the National Congress and the Metropolitan Cathedral next to the Government House in May Square area. Visit the Colon Theater, one of the most important opera houses in Latin America and San Telmo, traditional neighborhood where Tango performances can be seen in many bars and restaurants. Stop at La Boca colorful neighborhood, which was seat of immigrants - mainly Italians - and now home of some artists. Enjoy Palermo, an area that combines its architecture and history with entertainment and amusement in its green spaces. Finally, La Recoleta, an exclusive and elegant neighborhood where the famous cemetery was found.
DAY 3: Buenos Aires - Free day - Tango Night (B/D)
Breakfast. Free Day. In the evening (8:00 pm), Tango Show with dinner in La Ventana: In the very heart of San Telmo neighborhood, this refurbished historic "conventillo" is a classic building of Buenos Aires culture. LA VENTANA is a trip to older times.
Professional artists will show you their best art by playing their songs and dancing typical pieces, shared with the best tango orchestras. The show consists of several parts in which you can appreciate 2 tango orchestras, a folkloric group, dancers and singers.
DAY 4: Night bus Buenos Aires - Mendoza (B)
Breakfast and check out at 11:00 am. In the evening, departure to Mendoza by night bus.
DAY 5: Mendoza - Winery Tour
Arrival in Mendoza. Transfer to the selected accommodation and check in. At 2:30 pm (8:30 am on Sundays), depart for your Half Day Winery Tour. This Tour runs among vineyards in the areas of Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu. You will experience the work culture brought by of immigrants, using irrigation techniques (canals and ditches) inherited from the former Huarpes Indians. They managed to change a vast desert into a productive river oasis. This is the scene of the settlement of prestigious wineries, which represent Argentine wines in the world with high quality wines.
You will visit two wineries, one with traditional organic methods and the other that uses the latest available technology. Guided by professionals in winemaking, you will learn about the vinification methods and processes, bottling and labelling of wines, in the end of the tour you will taste the different grapes that the wineries offer.
DAY 6: Mendoza - Rafting activity (B)
Breakfast. At 9:30 am, depart for your rafting activity of 12 kms down the Mendoza River. The Rafting takes place in Potrerillos, a village located 60 km south west from Mendoza city, in the heart of the Precordillera, the range before the High Mountains. The landscape is of 5000 meters snowy peaks, desert and colorful rocks.
Rafting is one of the most important adventure sport in Mendoza. It is not necessary to have previous experience, the rafts can hold 6 people plus 1 guide that will provide the necessary security information and the mini course to handle the boat.
The activity is based on the Mendoza River. You will also find locker rooms, showers, two pools and one solarium among other things, so it is a great place to spend a beautiful day in the mountain besides doing a Rafting. Rapids are grade III. For rafting bring some clothes and a pair of shoes to change yourself after the activity. A rafting wetsuit is provided, but whatever you decide to wear underneath the wetsuit will get wet. Bring also a towel, sun protection (hat, sun block), water and food (or money to buy some), a swimming suit (remember that there are two pools at the base) and warm clothes for after rafting. Back to town at 5:00 pm.
DAY 7: Transfer Mendoza - Santiago de Chile (B)
Breakfast. Check out. In the morning transfer to the Bus Station, departure to Santiago by bus and time to relax and enjoy one of the most beautiful scenery roads in west Argentina. It is a day bus so don't fall asleep and try to catch a glimpse of the Aconcagua, the highest peak in the American Continent (almost 7.000 meters). Arrival during the evening. Accommodation.
DAY 8: Santiago de Chile - Bike City Tour (B)
Breakfast. Santiago Bike Tour: 09:30 am - 12:30 pm: This Tour shows you the popular culture and everyday life in Santiago. Multiculturalism, urban art and diverse religions in Patronato; fruit and vegetables in La Vega Market; history in the “Plaza de Armas”. All part of the many experiences on this unforgettable Tour of Santiago, Chile.
Stops: Bellavista Neighborhood, La Chascona: Pablo Neruda's House, Metropolitan Park, Patronato Neighborhood, La Vega Market, Mapocho Station, Central Market, Plaza de Armas, Bellas Artes Museum, Forestal Park.
DAY 9: Santiago de Chile (B)
Breakfast. Check out.
* Pick-up from Ezeiza International Airport (Buenos Aires) is only included during the regular timetable, outside of those hours you will pay for the transfer yourself.
* Don’t forget to bring your own towel if you have chosen to stay in a Hostel Dorm Room.

Important Note (for travels in Argentina):
Please remember that the Argentine Immigration Office is charging ALL citizens from the United States and Australia a "Reciprocity Fee". You are responsible for paying for this fee online and printing your receipt, which you must present to the Customs Authority upon entering the country. There are no exemptions to this new fee and it must be paid regardless if you are staying for a few hours, making a flight connection or staying for a longer period of time. Please note that for some nationalities, the option to pay for multiple entrances does not exist. You are responsible for having these documents in order prior to arrival.
