Meet at Chamberlain Hostel early in the morning and depart with your guide. You'll walk to the local sky train station and take a short ride to Wongwian Yai, which will already leave you with the feeling of a day that's off the beaten track as you walk through local neighbourhoods to get to the station where the train ride starts. If time permits, you'll enjoy a local snack and coffee from the local market stalls around the station.

Jump on the train as it leaves the station. You will almost feel that you are driving through the locals' kitchens and living rooms. Along the way, you will see Bangkok's skyscrapers become smaller in the distance until rice fields and houses on stilts surround you. With open eyes you can lean back and enjoy the scenic ride. When the train comes to a stop, you will have arrived in the middle of the Mahachai fresh market. Your guide will walk you through some of the small alleys so you immerse yourself in the local lifestyle. Then jump in a shared minivan to Mae Klong market, also known as the Umbrella Market. The market has become famous as it is setup along (and on) the Mae Klong railway tracks. Once the train approaches, the awnings, umbrellas, and shopfronts are pulled back from the rail tracks so the train can pass - only to be replaced as soon as the train has passed through. You will have time to walk around and see the market to talk to the locals or perhaps buy a batch of dried fish or deliciously fresh vegetables.

From Mae Klong, you'll go by local pick-up truck to the cozy Amphawa floating market and dine at a famous restaurant where you will be treated to some of the freshest seafood around. After lunch, set along the quaint Amphawa canal, you will find heritage teak-wood houses, shops, and boats with smiling ladies preparing a new batch of tasty seafood. There's retro-inspired toys, cute t-shirts, and more Thai sweets than you can imagine. You will have time to explore the market and do some shopping before jumping in another shared van to return to Bangkok. Upon arrival at the Southern Bus Station in the outskirts of Bangkok, you'll change from minivan to a bus and then to a boat as you sail back to Sathorn Pier (the same BTS station you walked to in the morning.) Say goodbye to your guide here and grab a rest after a long and exhausting day!
