Day 1: Iquitos - Amazon Jungle, Peru

Get picked-up in Iquitos and depart from the port by fast boat for a 3-hour ride traversing the Amazon river to reach the jungle lodge. Head out on your Leoncito Hike to see amazing flora, monkeys and huge ceiba trees.

Transfer Iquitos - Jungle Lodge and Activities in the Amazon Jungle (L/D)
Please arrive to Iquitos before 9:00 am today. Transfer from the airport arrivals lounge to Iquitos (or hotel to the office) for shopping and last-minute coordination. Transfer to the port for a fast 3-hour boat ride upriver from Iquitos on the Amazon River. Upon arrival, get settled in to your lodge and enjoy lunch.
Afterwards, go on the Leoncito Hike, where you appreciate the immense variety of flora around the lodge. On this walk you can taste the water that Uncaria tomentosa (cat's claw) has within its vines - some say it can cure cancer and AIDS. You'll also be amazed at how huge the ceiba tree is. In addition, you will see the world's smallest monkey, the pigmy marmoset, and the squirrel and tamarin monkeys. If you're lucky, you'll see the howler monkey, whose deafening roar can be heard many miles away. After watching a sunset over the forest of mirrors head back to the lodge for dinner. In the evening, take a boat ride to see caimans, nocturnal birds and mammals.
NOTE: Once you arrive in Iquitos, our driver will pick you up from your hotel or the airport, and take you to our office. After check-in and a brief explanation of the boat ride to the lodge, we will sail in one of our boats. Our boats leave Iquitos every day at 9:30 AM, arriving at the lodge at 12:30 PM. The last day of your stay, we leave the Lodge after lunch, arriving in Iquitos around 4 PM.

Day 2: Amazon Jungle, Peru

Board a small boat on the Amazon River where you'll get the chance to swim close to pink and grey dolphins. Enjoy lunch at the lodge before going on a boat trip to catch different kinds of fish, including the famous piranha. Enjoy a night walk tonight.

Activities in the Amazon Jungle (B/L/D)
Enjoy breakfast and then cruise the Amazon River, where you will experience the most magical moment of your trip, which is to swim in the same river where the pink and grey dolphins live. You can see them, but don't expect to touch. On the way back to the lodge, you will see the biggest aquatic plant in the world, the famous Victoria Regia. It is also easy to see iguanas.
Enjoy lunch at the lodge before going on a boat trip to the lakes Purura and Corrientes to catch different kinds of fish, including the famous piranha (being more difficult in March, April and May). After lunch, spot wild animals before going on a night walk in search of huge frogs, anaconda's favorite food. In addition to seeing tarantulas, it is worth clarifying that despite their bad reputation, they are not dangerous to humans.

Day 3: Amazon Jungle - Iquitos, Peru

Go on a boat trip to Lake Sapote to look for different monkey and bird species before your 3-hour boat transfer back to Iquitos.

Activities in the Amazon Jungle and Return to Iquitos (B/L)
After breakfast, go for a boat trip to Lake Sapote to see different birds like parrots, jacanas, kingfishers, herons, panguanas, partridges, pigeons, cormorants, horned screamers, orneros and then move to the other end of the Moena lagoon to see sloths and monkeys, squirrels and dusky titi monkeys, etc.
Your experience of the jungle comes to an end after lunch and you will cruise three hours back to Iquitos and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport. Please plan to fly out of Iquitos after 6pm.
