Today you will start early from our Go Beyond Asia office in Delhi and drive to Nainital - a hill town with beautiful lakes around the city. Upon arrivial, check in to your hotel and have the rest of the day free to explore the city.
The day is free to explore the Naini Lake. (You can hire a boat for a few hours or trek up to the Naini Peak – the highest point in Nainital). In the free time you also have an option to do a trek to Tiffin Top or visit the high altitude zoo of Nainital. It gets very cold in Naintal from Nov to March as its a hilltown.
Today you start easy for the drive to Corbett National Park. You arrive at the resort and rest of the day is at leisure. You may visit Corbett museum at Dhangarhi Gate and Garjia Devi temple near by. The temple is said to have sacred powers. The temple is located on top of a rock where the main deity is situated. River Kosi flows on the foot of this rock. In the evening, you may participate in the in-house activities at the hotel/resort.
Early morning get picked up at your resort by a jeep and enter the national park. The ride including transfers is around 03 hours. After the ride inside the national park get back to the hotel for freshening up and breakfast. Late afternoon we are back in Jungle for the next ride to explore a little more of the beautiful wildlife.
There are three distinct seasons in Corbett: cold from Nov to Feb, hot from March to June, and rainy from July to Oct. Corbett is a known haven for tigers, largely owing to the success of WWF-funded Project Tiger that was launched on 1st April 1973. Other animals which add to its attraction are include leopards, jungle cats, fishing cats, the Himalayan black bear, dhole, yellow-throated morten, elephant, porcupine, chital, and barking deer. Some of the birds commonly seen here are osprey, crested serpent eagle, black-winged kite, shikra, Pallas's fishing eagle, spotted eagle, minivets, shrikes, and babblers. The Gharials, descendants of the prehistoric reptiles, have made the park their home. The Indian python, viper, cobra, krait and king cobra, the largest of the poisonous snakes, also inhabit Corbett. Evening at leisure, overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, you will drive to Rishikesh. Later, visit the Triveni ghat (river bank) to watch the evening Aarti(prayer) offered to the Ganges. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, you will drive to the Laxman Jhula (the swing bridge), walk through the maze of temples, ashrams etc and cross back on the right bank at Ram Jhula. Optional: have lunch at the famous Chotiwala dhaba. (Please remember that Haridwar and Rishikesh are holy pilgrimages, therefore, you cannot get meat products here). In the afternoon, you may drive to Haridwar and visit Har-Ki-Puri, the confluence where thousands of Hindu pilgrims come to wash away their sins! Watch the interesting Ganga Aarti – literally, worshipping of the Ganges. OR just relax and enjoy the peaceful Ganges, the temples and the bazaar. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, you will drive back to Delhi and proceed to the next destination.
