Similar to Jerash, the Citadel is perched on a hilltop in the middle of the city affording you with panoramic views in all directions, a unique experience! Day 2: Petra - Jerusalem (B/L)
Get off to an early start on day 2, have breakfast and then hop back on the bus en route to the nearby archaeological site and a new seventh wonder of the world, Petra. This marvelous Nabataean city dates from 300 BC and is famous for its rock-cut architecture and intricately carved church facades nestled away deep in the Jordanian desert. The entire city was carved into the sandstone cliffs with a dramatic rose-coloured hue. Enjoy the entire morning to explore the city with your guide or walk around on your own. Have lunch on site at the entrance gate and then board the bus again for your return trip to Jerusalem via the Allenby Bridge border crossing. Here you will complete border crossing formalities and change vehicles before making the return trip to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv arriving in the late evening depending on traffic and border crossing delays.
