On Day 1, you will be met at the Tokyo Airport (NRT) for your transfer to your accommodation. The next morning, transfer to the train station where you will take a bullet train to Hakone, the gateway to Mt. Fuji. Enjoy free time to explore on your own. On Day 3, take a train to Kyoto - the cultural capital of Japan - with free time to get to know the city on your own. Take a half-day excursion of Kyoto on Day 4 to see some of the city’s incredible shrines and temples. Travel via train to Hiroshima on Day 5 through the Japanese countryside and take a 2-hour sightseeing bus excursion on Day 6 to get to know the city. Day 7 brings you to Osaka for your last night on tour with free time to explore on your own! Say goodbye to the beautiful country of Japan as you are transferred back to Tokyo on Day 8.
Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet & Greet at the Tokyo Airport
Today you will be met by our representative at the Tokyo airport (NRT) upon arrival, who will assist you with boarding a train or shared shuttle to your accommodation. Get checked in to your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure. Have dinner on your own and overnight in Tokyo.
Day 2: Tokyo – Mt Fuji/Hakone
Have breakfast at your accommodation this morning and then check-out. You will depart Tokyo early today to reach Hakone Area, the gateway to Mt. Fuji and its surrounding national park, famous for its wonderful onsen (natural hot springs) and beautiful natural landscapes.
Upon arrival you will have free time to explore the Hakone area on your own. You will have an included Hakone Transport Pass that provides you with numerous forms of transportation throughout the area so you can choose where to go and what to do. You may choose to go on the Volcanic Owakudani Ropeway passing over hot springs and sulfurous fumaroles (operations close intermittently during volcanic activity). the kuro-tamago, an egg hard boiled in the sulfuric hot springs. They say that if you do, it will add seven years to your life! Glide across 3,000-year-old Ashinoko Lake on a majestic pirate ship or take the Hakone Tozan Switchback Train that zigzags through the mountains with stunning views of the surrounding valleys. Keep your eyes open for a glimpse of Mt. Fuji throughout the day, although chances may be slim if there are cloudy or overcast skies. Check in to a natural onsen resort in Hakone. Overnight in Hakone.
Day 3: Hakone - Kyoto
Have breakfast at your accommodation this morning and then check-out. You will depart Hakone today via bullet train en route to Kyoto, Japan’s cultural capital with more than 2,000 shrines and temples. Have lunch on your own upon arrival and get checked in to your accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in Kyoto and have dinner on your own. Overnight in Kyoto.
Day 4: Kyoto Free Morning & Half Day Excursion
Have breakfast this morning at your accommodation and then enjoy some free time. In the afternoon, proceed to the meeting point at the New Miyako Hotel. There you will begin a half-day excursion around Kyoto to see the best highlights of the city. Visit one of Japan’s largest torii gates at the Heian Shrine featuring a beautiful garden with a central pond and stepping stones leading to a small Soryu-ike (Green Dragon) pond. Then, continue to Sanjusangendo Temple with 1,001 armed Kannon Goddess statues (the Goddess of Mercy). Finally, visit the Kyomizu-dera temple situated on Mt. Otowa with an impressive veranda standing 13-metres in height and built without any nails. Awe at the breathtaking view and if you’re lucky to be visiting in fall you will see the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom. Have dinner on your own tonight and overnight in Kyoto.

Day 5: Kyoto - Hiroshima
Have breakfast at your accommodation this morning and then check-out. You will depart Kyoto today via bullet train en route to Hiroshima. Have lunch on your own upon arrival and get checked in to your accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in Hiroshima and have dinner on your own. Overnight in Hiroshima.
Day 6: Hiroshima Free Morning & Afternoon Sightseeing Bus
Have breakfast at your accommodation this morning and then enjoy a free morning to explore on your own. We recommend taking a short ferry ride to Miyajima Island on the Seto Inland Sea where you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere with wildlife, shrines, temples and local delicacies. In the afternoon, make your own way to the Shinkansen Entrance of the Hiroshima Station for a 2-hour sightseeing experience on board an open-air bus. (Be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance). Ride around the city of Hiroshima to see the highlights of Hiroshima Castle, Jonan-dori Avenue, Heiwa-odori Boulevard, and the Mazda Stadium. Enjoy an hour to walk around Peace Memorial Park starting with the former Industrial Promotional Hall ruins and ending with a visit to the Peace Memorial Museum. Your trip will end back at the Hiroshima Station with the rest of the day at leisure to explore some more on your own. Have dinner on your own and overnight in Hiroshima.
NOTE: The Sightseeing Bus Tour departs on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, Golden Week and Summer Holidays (please double check for availability).
If you are not travelling during one of those dates, you will receive a Hiroshima Transport Day Pass instead. The pass includes an unlimited access to trams and the ferry from Miyajima-guchi port to Miyajima Island.
Day 7: Hiroshima - Osaka
Have breakfast at your accommodation this morning and then check-out. You will depart Hiroshima today around via bullet train en route to the vibrant city of Osaka. Have lunch on your own upon arrival and get checked in to your accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in Osaka and have dinner on your own. Overnight in Osaka.
Day 8: Osaka - Tokyo & Transport to Tokyo Airport
Have breakfast at your accommodation this morning and then check-out. Enjoy the morning at leisure until it is time to take your scheduled bullet train to Tokyo, and then onto the Tokyo airport (NRT).
