The Montevideo City Tour begins as our private transport service picks you up at your hotel. You will visit the most representative places of the city such as the Old City, Plaza Constitucion and the Matriz church that is the branch of the Metropolitan Cathedral. At the center of the Plaza, you will find the marble fountain of Carrara that was inaugurated in 1871 at the same time as the first potable water system, the Cabildo, and the Mercado del Puerto is known for its exquisite cuisine. The other buildings among these historic sites maintain the architectural style of the period when the city was founded. You will continue the tour to Plaza Independencia, highlighting the monument to General Jose Artigas and under it, the mausoleum where his remains rest. You will pass through the Executive Tower building, which is the current headquarters of the Executive Power, the magnificent Puerta de la Ciudadela and various streets of the Microcentro area. As you leave the old town, the tour continues through the beautiful and romantic El Prado neighborhood, the resting place of the old wealthy families. Next, you will see the Parliament known as the Legislative Palace, a colossal building that was inaugurated to celebrate the centennial of the Independence of Uruguay and the Centennial Stadium, World Football Historical Monument and where the first World Cup final was played in 1930. You will walk through the elegant neighborhoods erected around the Pocitos Beach and, finally, you will walk down the Rambla de Montevideo, also known as Rambla de las Naciones Unidas, while you appreciate its beautiful white sand beaches and the extensive 22 kilometers-long coastal corridor that forms it.
